  2. TMU: Trigger Manager Unit RU: Regional Unit The trigger management is performed by means of 4 types of signals: 1) Synchronization (Sync): may be the beam radiofrequency delivered by the TMU to the RU 2) Pattern: the serial LVDS links by means of each RU sends to the TMU the local event pattern 3) Global Trigger: the serial LVDS links by means of the TMU validates the event (it sends the Event Counter) 4) Busy: a signal by means of each RU can inhibit the TMU to generate the Sync signal Antonio Ordine - WG4 - FAZIA March 2008

  3. FEM: Front End Mudule TMU: Trigger Manager Unit RU: Regional Unit PTU: Pre-Trigger Unit EPU: Event Packing Unit In the figure only 2 channels are shown. Each RU should manage at least 16 FEM The hypotesis is to have all the logic into the Regional Units: - FEMs send continuously to the RU the sampling data via the LVDS serial links - In each channel (single FEM) the data are deserialized and sent both to a Temporary FIFO and to the PTU. This unit elaborates the data arriving and put the results (pattern) into a queue - The TMU sends the Sync signal: then all the PTUs send the patterns to the TMU - The TMU elaborates all the pattern and if the test is positive it send the Global Trigger end the Event Counter to the EPUs of the RUs via more LVDS links - Each EPU takes the content of the Temporary FIFOs and packs the event into MultiEvent FIFO Antonio Ordine - WG4 - FAZIA March 2008
