Intasc standard • Standard #10: Leadership and Collaboration • The teacher seeks appropriate leadership roles and opportunities to take responsibility for student learning, to collaborate with learners, families, colleagues, other school professionals, and community members to ensure learner growth, and to advance the profession. • As a teacher it is your job to facilitate learning and provide students with the best possible education

Why do I want to teach? • Great benefit to the community • Benefit to development of society • Prepare students for success • Provide students with opportunities I never had • Sense of gratification • Doing something that matters • Being someone that changes something in the world no matter how small

  4. What traits of an effective teacher do I possess? • Leadership • Determination • Charisma • Passion • Intelligence • Lifelong learner • Fun • Technologically competent

  5. What kind of teacher would I like to become? • Innovator • Connect with students • Facilitate critical thinking • Teaching students to never stop learning • Teach students to constantly improve themselves • Teach students to lead not follow • Teach students responsibility • Relate subject to real life and applications

  6. What are the characteristics of the students I want to teach? • Maturity • Responsible • Care for their education • Needing of education • Open to express ideas • Scholarly

  7. What are the characteristics of the community I want to teach? • United • Not over-privileged • Interconnectivity • Care for their children’s education • Understanding of outside politics of teaching

How can I contribute to the profession of teaching? • Outstanding educator • Never give up on the student • Set an example for other educators • Set an example for the students • Be a positive role model • Treat students equally • Meet INTASC standards yet go above and beyond • Adapt with technology and incorporate it into the classroom
