Blow-up from Al2O3 screens with Pb82+

Blow-up from Al2O3 screens with Pb82+. B.Goddard, V.Kain. Screen blow-up with ions. Tried to check validity of the well-know MC scattering formula using 11 (!) screens. 12 um OTR. 1 mm Al2O3. 12 um OTR. Emittance meas 2. Emittance meas 1. 0-3 screens. Results (preliminary!).

  1. Blow-up from Al2O3 screens with Pb82+ B.Goddard, V.Kain

  2. Screen blow-up with ions • Tried to check validity of the well-know MC scattering formula using 11 (!) screens 12 um OTR 1 mm Al2O3 12 um OTR Emittance meas 2 Emittance meas 1 0-3 screens

  3. Results (preliminary!) • Very nice and accurate method • Independent of emittance fluctuations • Can measure changes in emittance to 0.05 um • Horizontally see more blow-up than expected • Investigating why this is (energy spread??) • Will compare with p+ at next opportunity

  4. Other stuff – few Pb82+ with huge dp/p

  5. Ion emittances • Used screen matching application with estimate of dp from T.Bohl • Obtained 3.2 – 4.3 nm H, 2.3 – 3.6 nm V
