  2. FP set up for Nova server • Frontpage: suggestions • A) If using NOVA server or another server which doesn’t have FP extensions installed, set appropriate settings (Next Slide for screen shot) • WHY? • Prevents using features in FP that may not work when moved to the server.

  3. Front Page – Tools|Page Options|Compatibility tab

  4. Uploading to Nova server • Two Options: • A) Simple way: Use an FTP program and upload files & directories. • B) Use the “Publishing” features built into Front Page – somewhat tricky, see next slides.

  5. “Publishing” in Frontpage • Publish feature • Moves the complete directory under a “web” • Simplifies the file upload process. • Use the FTP option – not HTTP (not supported on our server) • Instructions: File|Publish • To publish in a directory called dir_name, under public_html, use: • ftp://scis.nova.edu/~username/public_html/dir_Name

  7. In Future… • When we start with server-side (Cold Fusion), we will use another server – call it CFserver (Cold Fusion Server) • The CFserver will have FP extensions installed – no problem.
