  1. RESTORATIVE JUSTICE – VICTIM SUPPORT AND COUNSELING 2011 - 2012 Project EU057 Restorative Justice – Victim Support and Counseling is implemented by the Probation and Mediation Service of the Czech Republic in partnership with the Association of Civic Advise Centers and London Probation Trust. Project is financed under the European Union Programme „Criminal Justice“, JUST/2009/JPEN/AG/655, with contribution from the Czech state budget.

  2. The long-term goal of the project „Restorative Justice - Victim Support and Counseling“is to gradually develop functional network of services for victims. • The project is implemented by the Probation and Mediation Service of the Czech Republic (PMS) in partnership with the Association of CivicAdvice Centers (AOP). • Since the beginning the project has been conceptually supported by the Ministry of Justice.Project builds on system steps of the Ministry of Justice within preparations of the new law on victims of crime. Project EU057 Restorative Justice – Victim Support and Counseling is implemented by the Probation and Mediation Service of the Czech Republic in partnership with the Association of Civic Advise Centers and London Probation Trust. Project is financed under the European Union Programme „Criminal Justice“, JUST/2009/JPEN/AG/655, with contribution from the Czech state budget.

  3. The project is divided into 3 main parts: 1.Extending guidance to 10 new locations. • The goal is to spread the project to further 10 new locations. The project assumes initial training of 20 new staff-advisors from among the AOP and PMS employees that will be trained according to a previously tested training model.   4. Case ManagementCivic Advise Centers (AOP) and Probation Mediation Service (PMS) closely cooperate when offering help to client. According to the nature of the client´s problem, CAC and PMS pass the cases to each other in order to offer the best counseling to the client.PMS can involve client in mediation between offender and victim while AOP can offer e.g. debt and financial counseling.   5. 2.Pilot test of the Victim Liaison Office (VLO) in two selected cities. • The aim is to develop and coordinate a networkbetween other institutions in the particular area which can provide services and information for victims of crime based on crime data analysis of the particular area and eligible needs and interests of victims of crime. • This new service is run with cooperation with Probation Service of England and Wales • At the moment VLOs work in two cities – Hradec Králové and Havířov Project EU057 Restorative Justice – Victim Support and Counseling is implemented by the Probation and Mediation Service of the Czech Republic in partnership with the Association of Civic Advise Centers and London Probation Trust. Improving professional approach to victims of crime • Seminar for selected representatives from the justice sector in project locations (police officers, prosecutors and judges) held in May 2012. The purpose of the training was to improve their professional approach and skills when dealing with victims of crime, thus preventing re-victimization. • The seminars were run by representatives of justice from the UK and experts from the Czech Republic trained during the project. Training was conducted under the auspices of the Minister of Justice.   8. One month information billboard campaign „We will not turn our backs on you“ held place from January 1, 2012 until February 1, 2012 in all project sites. The aim of the campaign was to inform public about possibility of free counseling. The billboardswere displayed on public places like shopping center parking lots or close to busy public transportation stops. In the middle of January leaflet campaign started in public transportation in the project towns, courthouses and other public institutions. PR activities and press conference with Minister of Justice presenting the project broadcasted life on TV caused 100% raise of number of clients in January 2012 in comparison with the average of year 2011.
