Tiangong Mission Progress • 29 Sep. 2011: Tiangong 1 launched onboard Changzheng 2F-T1 vehicle • 360km near circular orbit • Controlled descent to a 343km near-circular orbit under atmospheric drag • 30 Oct. 2011: 180° turn with its docking port pointing backwards • 2 Nov. 2011: First docking with unmanned Shenzhou 8 spacecraft, two vehicles flew connected in orbit for 10 days • 17 Nov. 2011: Shenzhou 8 returned to Earth • 16 June 2012: Shenzhou 9 manned mission to Tiangong 1

HERD for China’s Space Station Charge detector: 2-layered Si+PIN. Charge measurement Shower Tracker: W+scintillation fibers Nucleon Tracker: scintillation fibers. ECAL: lepton calorimeter. e/γ energy. HCAL: hadron calorimeter. e/p discrimination and CR composition. PWO or BGO W+ CsI(Na) + Fiber + ICCD Neutron detector: B-doped plastic scintillator for delayed signals. Enhanced e/p discrimination.
