  1. Independent Design –Project Plan By Zeenat Bidassy N0211220

  2. The Project • Site: Wollaton Park (outdoors/Nature) • Themes: Journey, Identity, Escapism, Discovery, Nature, Extinct (No longer is) • An interactive and immersive installation inspired by Genealogy of the Willoughby family at Wollaton and the nature on its grounds. • The installation is an enchanted world created by the daughters of Francis Willoughby to escape from their miseries and pressures of their society and their mother. • In this immersive world, will be artefacts and personal items once belonging to these girls which the invited audience will be able to interact with. • Ideally I would like the event to be held in the late afternoon (when it gets dark) in order to enhance the mystical atmosphere of this artificial world. Playing on the nature element I would also like to deliver the some of the pathway lighting using a firefly effect.

  3. The Space - Wollaton Grounds

  4. The Audience • The audience members will be the general public and invited audience. • They will be able to experience the installation individually or as a group. • At this stage I am proposing that there will be no time limit in viewing the installation and they will be given a map of the installation to help with their navigation and choices. I am hoping this will avoid any crowding around a particular artefact. I would like the audience to interact and be attentive to their discoveries along their journey. • If the event was held at night, asking the audience to bring torches, for example, would already give them an involvement within the world, they would also feel more immersed in this world. • At this moment I am not quite sure of what the audience involvement and further interaction will be.

  5. Resources • Props/ artefacts (books, items of clothing, diaries, etc) Bought, collected or created by myself. • Torches • Maybe artificial/ stage lights?

  6. Costing- Budget • Props: £50 • Printing: £20 • Light: ??

  7. General notes • Weather conditions would not dramatically effect or ruin artefacts (made and artificial ones), it would only add to the aesthetic of them. • There will guides acting as members of the public (Or not), should anyone get lost or need assistance, there will be people to help them.

  8. Design Rationale • I am very interested in structures and boundaries and the choices people make and their journeys hence why I was interested in creating a Maze. • I like to combine fiction and factual elements to see what the outcomes will be, like my in MRP. • I believe that people sometimes like to escape and run wild in their imaginations and that it why I would like to bring this imagination alive. • As people we are curious, therefore I believe that the audience will venture the woods and want to learn more about the world of these girls, whether it be true or not it is a chance for them to experience something not from this world.
