Rebuilding of the Castle • the original structure was later burned down in 1412 as a punishment to owner Jean Marques • he later rebuilt it in the 1430’s A view of the Chenonceau from the garden.
Famous People • shortly following completion the chateau was claimed by King Francois I, because Bohier (the owner) could not pay his debts • the king's successor King Henry II and his mistress Diane de Poitiers, were the next to inhabit the castle • purchased by the Duke of Bourbon in 1720, he sold a great deal of the castle’s contents of the castle, followed by selling the castle
