What is NAFTA? North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA) is a regional agreement between the governments of Canada, Mexico, and the United States of America. NAFTA was necessary to facilitate The North American economy.As stated in naftaworks.org:As a matter of course, considering the growth interests of Canada, The United States, and Mexico respectively, NAFTA was necessary in order to facilitate a healthy North American economy.
History of NAFTA • NAFTA was created to facilitate North Americas economy. • NAFTA was influenced by the General Agreement on Tarrifs and trade between The United States, and Isreal. • Majority of products were already free of Tarrifs between Canada, and the United States, but while that was happening NAFTA eliminated any duty that was to be dispensed for the industrial trade. • All duties towards trades were initially eliminated whithin10-15 years. “As for the expected boon to the Mexican economy, we have seen none of these gains, and instead we have seen NAFTA's detrimental impact on the Mexican workers.”Stephen F. When and why? When was NAFTA created? NAFTA was signed on December, 17, 1992. Why? NAFTA was created so that Canada, The United States, and Mexico can agree on a free trade area. NAFTA’s intentions are to expand North America’s respective economy.
Who are the members?Where do they meet? Who are the members of NAFTA? Canada, The United States, and Mexico makes NAFTA, therefore NAFTA includes the Federal Government of each country. The panel members of NAFTA are chosen from experts, which is established by each country a part of NAFTA. There are over 30 groups and committees that have been made to facilitate trade and investment. Where do the members of NAFTA meet? The NAFTA members have meetings either inThe States or Canada.
NAFTA’s Goals As stated in Library.unt.edu the key goals of NAFTA are: • To reduce barriers to trade. • To increase cooperation for improving working conditions in North America. • To create an expanded and safe market for goods and services produced in North America. • To establish clear and mutually advantageous trade rules • To help develop and expand world trade and provide a catalyst to broader international cooperation. “NAFTA recognizes the reality of today's economy - globalization and technology. What does NAFTA do? Globilastion? How does this organisation promote Globalisation? NAFTA’s products are not just from The North America, what NAFTA is trading has been at least produced in other places in the world. But NAFTA has helped Canada, The United States, and Mexico grow and improve economically. But NAFTA does not have other head quarters in other countries, therefore they don’t support Globalisation that much.
Interdependence? How does NAFTA promote Interdependence? The only thing NAFTA depends on other countries for is if their products that they trade in North America that are going to be produced. The trading itself is all taken care of in North America. NAFTA only promotes Interdependence by buying or trading goods and services from other countries for their own. NAFTA also depends on every country that is involved in NAFTA. Therefore, NAFTA promotes more interdependence than gobalisation.
