Empowering Deaf Students: Maximizing Classroom Resources for Effective Reading Strategies

This document emphasizes the importance of utilizing existing classroom materials to support Deaf students' reading development. It critiques current reading resources, such as Milestones and HighPoint, for their ineffectiveness in providing realistic contexts and tools for reading strategies. Educators are encouraged to seek training, collaborate with Reading Specialists, and develop a comprehensive plan using available resources, instead of purchasing new materials. The role of the Reading Specialist is highlighted along with strategies for successful implementation, fostering an inclusive and effective learning environment.
