  2. Symptoms • Mental retardation • Heart defects • Unusual facial features(elf like) • Internal symptoms • Behavioral abnormalities • Heart or red blood vessel problems • Abnormal sleep patterns • Kidney function problems

  3. Diagnosis/Prognosis • Distinct physical features • FISH • Live a normal life with some difficulties

  4. Treatment • No cure • Monitored and treated for symptoms throughout life

  5. Recessive • Most do not reproduce • One out of 10,000 babies are born with Williams Syndrome

  6. Strengths Weaknesses • Extremely polite • Can be strong in speech, long term memory and social skills • Delayed learning • Intellectual handicap • Motor abilities and spatial awareness
