  1. The Title again has a hidden connotation to it. If noticed , the title has replaced the other set of teeth that has been missing, this can be explained by the fact that the use of the saw or the weapon used by the slasher has been the instigating force as to why the set of teeth are missing. The title has an aluminous glow to it , this is used to tell audience how significant the word is to the film and why it is the highlight of the film. This could be the Unique Selling Point. Halloween is a time that people are looking forward to watch bloodcurdling films and do extraordinary things. The Fact that the film has portrayed attention that the film is showing during Halloween, brings excessive amount of attracters as they would like to see a film of this nature during Halloween. The graphical image used, has a hidden connotation, if you look at the title it says: “ Saw III” The image shows the remaining of three teeth left. This is very intriguing as it gives audience an expectation that gruesomeness is to be included. Pain is also a hidden connotation, it shows the audience that affliction (as in any slasher movie) is going to be the core focus in the film, notice how the poster lays so much emphasis on the graphical image. The small engraved names, indicate that the actors of the film are insignificant and that block buster actors/ actresses are not included in the film.

  2. Unlike the first poster, this includes a tag line, which is a typical convention of a poster. “ LEGENDS NEVER DIE” here audiences begin to get a guess of what the plot of the film is about. The Slasher does not die, as expected. The use of tag line, especially ones of this kind, puts audience in an “wanting to know” state of mind. The use of capital letters indicate a sense of authority and how the legend ( who is the man central to the poster). Black Background suggests the film is associated with death, evil and the use of terror. This is a hidden connation as it gives the targeted audience an visual imagery of how the film is going to be linked to death and sinister afflictions. This is very powerful as it automatically sets the mood and the lets the audience know the genre of the film, without having to guess or Watch the trailer. The title, which is similar to the first and last poster, has a sinister look to it, the use of red and orange mixed together specifies a sense of hell and danger, it also merges in with the colour of the mans red cape, which indicates a link between the two. The image of the man who is blended in with the black background, indicates that the man is also associated with death, evil and terror. Unlike the first and second poster, it shows a human. The red cape indicates danger and death.
