  1. One One Second Part -to- How to Effectively Witness Face to Face Created by Jim Thurber K9KQ@me.COM

  2. Why should every Christian– EVERY CHRISTIAN – witness each week? One-to-One Witnessing GLORIFIES God. Without a massive number of witnessing encounters, few will hear the gospel enough times to make a decision, be forgiven, and bring glory to God

  3. For most Americans it requires 11 witnessing encounters to make a decision, on the average. In Taiwan one must be accepted into the Christian community for 6 to 12 months before a decision for Jesus can be made.

  4. And since we don’t know where we are in a person’s chain of witnessing episodes, our witnessing is crucial in the process the Holy Spirit puts one through when being “drawn” by the Father. A person may accept Christ in your presence but that likelihood is small, and because few non-believers attend church or listen to Christian media…

  5. One-to-One Lots of sharing is one of the best ways for non-believers to hear the gospel. “(Here in India),” wrote K.P. Yohannan, “the most effective evangelism is done face-to-face in the streets. Most native missionaries walk or ride bicycles between villages much like the Methodist circuit riders did in America’s frontier days.”

  6. Our evangelism outreach should make great use of the time-proven method. One-to-One C.H. Spurgeon, “A tract is a useful thing, but a living word is better. Your eye, your face, and voice will all help.” What does this mean?

  7. For any region of the world to have a revival, dedicated One-to-Oners are needed: • to pray fervently and repeatedly. • to witness regularly and methodically. • to train and hold Christians accountable.

  8. Sharingis invaluable, not only because people need to hear the gospel many times, but also because… One-to-One glorified when God forgives sin He is ________. Whatever you do, do all to the glory of God. Colossians 3:17 This is the 1st reason to share- we care about God’s reputation.

  9. One-to-One 2. Sharing… applies the Great Commission, GO, and PROCLAIM (e.g. witness): Jesus said, “. . . Make disciples of all nations.” Matthew 28:19 If we would spread God’s fame world-wide, we must make disciples. If we would have disciples we must evangelize.

  10. One-to-One 3. Sharing… copies Jesus Christ. He shared One-to-One : “Follow me and I make you fishers of men.” Matthew 4:19 To catch fish requires that we go where the fish are with baited hook, and that we throw the line into the water. GlorifyingGod requires obedience; obedience requires fishing!

  11. One-to-One 4. Sharing… enriches others: “As God’s servants . . . (we are) making many rich (blessed).” 2 Corinthians 6:4+10 To bless God and people, witness. God will use us to dispense His invaluable grace and mercy, (Ephesians 1:3) anddispensing God’s grace and mercy builds His reputation.

  12. One-to-One 5. Sharing… produces skillful thinking: The fruit of the righteous is like a tree producing life, and the one who wins souls is wise. Proverbs 11:30 If you want to be impressed with God’s thinking (theology), learn how to respond to non-believers’ questions, arguments, and excuses.

  13. One-to-One 6. Sharing… promises eternal rewards: …the wise will shine like the brightness of the heavenly expanse. And those bringing many to righteousness will be like the stars forever and ever.Daniel 12:3 Think what it will mean to God to reward someone like you.

  14. One-to-One 7. Sharing… shows our fear (respect) of God: …because we know what it means to fear the Lord, we persuade people. 2 Corinthians 5:11 One who fears God wants others to fear God. It is a mutual blessing- for God and for us. God gets respect; we get wisdom. Proverbs 1:7

  15. One-to-One 8. Sharing… exercises our ambassadorship: …we are ambassadors for Christ, as though God were making His plea through us. We plead with you on Christ’s behalf be reconciled to God.”2 Corinthians 5:20 There is no higher position in life than to verbally represent Jesus everywhere we go.

  16. One-to-One 9. Sharing… pleases God. He enjoys it: …we have been approved by God to be entrusted with the gospel, so we declare it, not to please people but God. 1 Thessalonians 2:4 Life is about God, not us.

  17. One-to-One 10. Sharing… nullifies a curse: “Woe to me if I do not preach the gospel.”1 Corinthians 9:16 Paul took witnessing seriously.

  18. Then why do so few Christians do it? Why do Christians refuse to share ? One-to-One Satan violently opposes anything glorifying God. Leaders value theirreputation above God’s. The immature fear embarrassment. Promoting God’s glory is painful work. We prefer worship over witness. Bobby Moore

  19. God not only wants more worship, He wants more worshippers. “Many professing Christians today are so locked into worship (with the volume turned high) that they seem to give little or no thought to the fate of the ungodly.” The Way of the Master Or to the glory of God by witnessing One-to-One

  20. Too often those who desire to be obedient have to swim alone when sharing . One-to-One So, let’s review: Churches can become enthusiastic about evangelism, making evangelism training continuous and required.

  21. INTRODUCTION Bridge Question Challenge = a transition from the worldly to the holy.

  22. Gospel Tract: Conversation: Survey: Anything that will lead to the BIG QUESTION

  23. INTRODUCTION Bridge Question Challenge = The BIG QUESTION: “Do You See Yourself as a Good Person?”

  24. INTRODUCTION Bridge Question Challenge : What is the Challenge? “May I challenge your sense of being good?”

  25. SIN Commandments Calculate Condemn : The 10 Commandments of Exodus 20.

  26. Use 4 of the 10Cs to get people lost. #9: Have you ever told a lie? #8: Have you stolen anything? #7: Have you committed adultery? #6: Have you murdered someone? “Yes, Yes, Yes, Yes” What should you call yourself? “A lying, thieving, adulterating murderer.”

  27. SIN Commandments Calculate Calculate Condemn : “If God used the 10Cs to calculate if you could live with Him forever would you pass or fail.”

  28. “God is love. He will forgive me.” “I will be good from now on.” Typically, people think they will the test. But they won’t. So, they will try to use two escapes: PASS

  29. SIN Commandments Calculate Condemn : So, what will happen to you? God will condemn you. You will go to Hell.

  30. Hell is NOT a “picnic.” What is Jesus said: Hell is eternal. Hell is darkness. like? Hell is shame. Hell is pain.

  31. What are you going to do about this? There is absolutely nothing you can do. But someone else has provided a solution. Would you like to know what that solution is?

  32. II. SUBSTITUTION Victory Substitution Summary The victory is in God’s Son, the Lord Jesus Christ Who died, was buried and arose from the dead. :

  33. God sent His Son, Jesus Christ, to die. For this is the way God loved the world: He gave His one and only Son, so that everyone who believes in Him will not perish but have eternal life. John 3:16

  34. II. SUBSTITUTION Victory Substitute Substitute Summary : “May I tell you a story about a substitute?”

  35. II. SUBSTITUTION Victory Substitute Summary : You are wicked. You will die. You will be judged. You will go to Hell, or …

  36. You can choose a substitute to pay for you. The Lord Jesus Christ

  37. How do we get what Jesus did on the cross 2000 years ago applied to us today? Jesus said in Mark 1:15: “Repent and believe the gospel.”

  38. SALVATION Repent Trust Respond = change the mind About what do we need to change our mind?

  39. Who we are in God’s eyes, Who are we? and Who Jesus is in their eyes.

  40. Put yourselves to the test to see if you are in the faith; examine yourselves! 2 Corinthians 13:5 Many will say to me on that day, “Lord did we not cast out demons in your name, and teach in your name, and do many powerful deeds in your name?” I will declare to them, Get away from Me. I never knew you, you law-breaker.” Matthew 7:21-23 Criminals, Law Breakers

  41. Do you see yourself as a criminal? Jesus said, “I have not come to call the (self) righteous, but sinners (criminals) to repentance.” Luke 5:32 A person cannot be saved from Hell until they see themselves as a criminal deserving Hell. Who are the criminals? Everybody

  42. SALVATION Repent Trust Trust Respond in Jesus as the only savior. Trust Jesus like you would a parachute.

  43. Only a parachute can get you safely to earth. Only Jesus can get you safely to Heaven. Jesus replied, “I am the way, the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.” John 14:6

  44. SALVATION Change Trust Respond : reject postpone receive.

  45. A man crucified with Jesus said, “If you are the Messiah save yourself and us.” Luke 23:39 He went to Hell that day. WHY? He wanted release without admitting he was a criminal. Jesus said, “. . . these will depart into eternal punishment,…”

  46. Others will delay, and put themselves in peril: they may die today and be in Hell tonight. Look, now is the acceptable time! Look, now is the day of salvation! 2 Corinthians 6:2

  47. The other man repented and believed. He admitted he was a criminal who needed full forgiveness. Jesus said to him, People who do not see themselves as criminals will not see themselves needing full forgiveness. Luke 23:43 ”Today you will be with Me in Paradise.” Jesus also said, “He who is forgiven little loves little.” Luke 7:47

  48. WHY did this woman love Jesus so much? She received full forgiveness from Jesus. A woman anointed and washed Jesus’ feet with her hair. Luke 7:37-39.

  49. WHY did this woman love Jesus so much? (Another) woman came to Jesus. She brought an alabaster jar of costly aromatic oil from pure nard. After breaking open the jar, she poured it on his head. Mark 14:3 She too received full forgiveness from Jesus. Jesus said, “I tell you the truth wherever the gospel is proclaimed in the whole world, what she has done will also be told in memory of her.” Mark 14:9

  50. Each woman knew she was a criminal, each glorified God by receiving forgiveness, and each woman had been witnessed to by Jesus One-to-One. Will you obey Jesus? One-to-One Go, proclaim . God will be glorified; people will be evangelized.
