SiS-2010-2.1.3.1 - Women in Science: Euro-Mediterranean Cooperation Objectives • Increase knowledge on the situation of women in science, engineering, and technology (SET) in the Mediterranean Partner Countries (MPCs). Conditions • SICA-CP : 2 entities from two different MS or AC + 2 entities from 2 different ICPC Mediterranean Partner Countries • Budget: € 2 million (1 proposal) analyzing all the ICPC Mediterranean Partner Countries: Algeria, Egypt, Jordan, Lebanon, Libya, Morocco, Palestinian-administered area, Syria and Tunisia. • Key dates: • Deadline: 21 January 2010 • Evaluation: March-April 2010 • Contracts signed: from September 2010

CAPACITIES - International CooperationACCESS4EU - Activities ACCESS4EU actions: • Mapping of the access opportunities in the target country; • Dissemination of the results to European research organisations and multipliers (information and awareness activities in MS and AC, web...); • Monitoring of the participation of researchers from the Member States and Associated Countries to the programmes managed by the target country; • Provide a feedback for use by the Commission in the context of the Joint Committee meetings of the S&T agreements and make appropriate recommendation to ensure matching reciprocity from the target country.

CAPACITIES - International CooperationINCO NCP - Objectives Transnational Cooperation among NCPs (INCO NCP): • Promote trans-national cooperation between the National Contact Points (NCP) of the International Cooperation activities of the Capacities Programme. • First phase: INCONTACT, 0.4M€, start: 01/01/08; • Second phase: INCONTACT one world, 2 M€ (under negotiation)

CAPACITIES - International CooperationWP2010 - ERA-WIDE Integrating Europe's neighbours into the ERA(ERA-WIDE): Objective: To reinforce the cooperation capacities of research centres located in the ENP countries, which are not associated to FP7, in the areas of the thematic priorities of FP7. Coverage: Mediterranean Partner Countries: Morocco, Algeria, Tunisia, Libya, Egypt, Jordan, Occupied Palestinian Territory, Lebanon, Syria Eastern Europe and South Caucasus: Moldova, Georgia, Ukraine, Belarus, Armenia, Azerbaijan

CAPACITIES - International CooperationWP2010 - ERA-WIDE – Participants profile • The call is addressed to research centres of proven high level S&T capacities, which are located in an ENP country not associated to FP7; • The proposal should target only one such centre; • The consortium should however include additional participants, in particular from the MS and/or AC so as to fulfil the objectives of the activity; • The research centre targeted by the proposal should be the coordinator of the proposal.

CAPACITIES - International CooperationWP2010 - ERA-WIDE - Activities • ERA-WIDE actions: • Networking with research centres in MS or AC in view of disseminating scientific information, identifying partners and setting up joint experiments; • Developing training modules to build competency and facilitate the participation of these centres in FP7; • Developing research centres’ strategy in order to increase their scope (regional coverage, activities) and to improve their responses to the socio-economic needs of their countries and of the region.

CAPACITIES - International Cooperation WP 2010 BILAT Bilateral S&T Cooperation Partnerships(BILAT): Targeted country: ALGERIA Objective: Strengthen the cooperation partnership between the EU and countries, which have an S&T cooperation agreement or are in the process of negotiating one. Actions: • Improving the process of providing information on programs and funding designed to promote cooperation of third countries in the FP; • Develop national information platforms; • Reinforce promotion and awareness activities; • Sharing best practices via joint fora such as workshops and presenting the state of the art and the prospects for cooperation in particular fields; • Assistance in forming research partnerships; etc… Deadline: January 19th 2010

CAPACITIES - International Cooperation WP 2010 INCONET – General objectives and activities The new activities should add value to existing coordination efforts of the targeted INCONET projects by either: • Increasing the participation of the key stakeholders in Europe and/or fostering the participation of political decision makers inside and outside Europe; • Bridging gaps between regional, national and multinational S&T, aid and development programmes and policies, • Deepening ownership and partnership in the existing consortia, • Promoting synergies between regional, national and multinational S&T cooperation and international relations policies of the EU member states outside Europe. • Strengthening the inter-sectoral dialogue between higher education, research and innovation actors. • Assuring the quality of the existing and new deliverables by e.g. integrating external scientists in the development of recommendations and/ or external peer review of deliverables.

CAPACITIES - International Cooperation WP 2010 INCONET – Objective for MIRA • Secure the participation of the remaining Mediterranean Partner Countries (MPC) in the consortium; • Increase the participation of Member States and Associated Countries in the consortium; • • Support the building of the Euro-Mediterranean Innovation Space (EMIS) in order to • foster innovation in the MPC in strong collaboration with the European countries; • FP7 Capacities Work Programme: Activities of International Cooperation 2010 • Page 8 of 36 • • Establish a network of Research Centres, Public Institutions and other Stakeholders aimed • at supporting the implementation of the Horizon 2020 Programme1. • • Support the creation of working groups covering the S&T aspects of the cooperation • priorities identified in the Paris Summit of the Union for the Mediterranean in July 2008.
