Candid Cream by Glenmark (Generic Clotrimazole 1% Topical Cream) Uses of Candid Cream Clotrimazole is a broad-spectrum antifungal agent that is used for the treatment of dermal infections caused by various species of pathogenic dermatophytes, yeasts, and Malassezia furfur. Candid Cream (Generic Clotrimazole 1% Topical Cream) is used for the treatment of: 1. All dermatomycoses due to moulds and other fungi (e.g. Trichophyton species) 2. All dermatomycoses due to yeasts (Candida species). These include ringworm (tinea) infections (e.g. athlete's foot), paronychia, pityriasis versicolor, erythrasma and intertrigo. 3. Skin diseases showing secondary infection with these fungi. 4. Candidal nappy rash, vulvitis and balanitis. Candid Cream by Glenmark (Generic Clotrimazole 1% Topical Cream) Recommended Dosage The dosage of Candid Cream Candid Cream (Generic Clotrimazole 1% Topical Cream) is given below: Apply Candid Topical Cream to the affected area two or three times a day. Use the cream for at least 2 weeks. In some cases it may be necessary to continue to use the cream for more than 4 weeks. If you are using the cream for a foot infection, make sure your feet, especially between the toes, are washed and thoroughly dried before applying the cream. Apply to the skin only. The duration of the treatment depends upon the type of infection. Do not use more than the amount recommended above. If symptoms do not improve within 7 days, or do not go away, talk to your doctor. To help cure up your infection completely, it is very important that you keep using this medicine for the full time of treatment , even if your symptoms begin to clear up after a few days. Since fungus infections may be very slow to clear up, you may have to continue using this medicine every day for several weeks or more. If you stop using this medicine too soon, your symptoms may return. Do not miss any doses. Candid Cream by Glenmark (Generic Clotrimazole 1% Topical Cream) Recommended Dosage The dosage of Candid Cream Candid Cream (Generic Clotrimazole 1% Topical Cream) is given below: Adult Dosage for the treatment of jock itch, athletes foot and ringworm: Thinly apply and gently massage sufficient Candid 1% Topical Cream into the affected and surrounding skin areas twice daily, in the morning and evening. For the treatment to be completely successful Clotrimazole 1% Topical Cream should be applied regularly and in sufficient quantities. Usual Adult Dose for Tinea Corporis: Apply Clotrimazole topical in a quantity sufficient to cover the affected area and immediately surrounding skin twice a day for 4 weeks, depending on the nature and severity of the infection. Usual Adult Dose for Tinea Cruris: Apply Clotrimazole topical in a quantity sufficient to cover the affected area and immediately surrounding skin twice a day for 2 weeks, depending on the nature and severity of the infection.   13. Candid Cream by Glenmark (Generic Clotrimazole 1% Topical Cream) Warnings Candid 1% Topical Cream is not for ophthalmic use. Do not use this medicine on children under 2 years of age, unless instructed to do so by a doctor. Do not use Candid 1% Topical Cream if you are pregnant, think you are, or are nursing, without first consulting your physician. If you experience a rash or new irritation while using Candid, discontinue use and contact your doctor. Candid 1% Topical Cream are not suitable for treating fungal infections of the nail or scalp. For adult treatment, consult your doctor if signs and symptoms of the infection have not resolved after 4 weeks. Occlusive dressings should not be applied on top of Candid 1% Topical Cream unless directed by a physician. Candid 1% Topical Cream is for topical use only. If Candid is accidentally swallowed, contact your local emergency room or Poison Control Centre immediately. Candid Cream by Glenmark (Generic Clotrimazole 1% Topical Cream) Candid Cream Side Effects The side effects of Clotrimazole 1% Topical Cream (Candid Cream) are given below: Immune system disorders: allergic reaction (syncope, hypertension, dyspnea, urticaria) Skin and subcutaneous tissue disorders: blisters, discomfort/pain, edema, erythema, irritation, peeling/exfoliation, pruritus, rash, stinging/burning Out of a total of 184 patients treated with the 1% cream, irritation was reported in 12 and soreness in 1 patient; therapy was discontinued in 3 patients. Candid Cream by Glenmark (Generic Clotrimazole 1% Topical Cream) Candid Cream Overdose No risk of acute intoxication is seen as it is unlikely to occur following a single dermal application of an overdose (application over a large area under conditions favourable to absorption) or inadvertent oral ingestion. There is no specific antidote. However, in the event of accidental oral ingestion, routine measures such as gastric lavage should be performed only if clinical symptoms of overdose become apparent (e.g. dizziness, nausea or vomiting). Gastric lavage should be carried out only if the airway can be protected adequately.   17. Candid Cream by Glenmark (Generic Clotrimazole 1% Topical Cream) Candid Cream During Pregnancy Clotrimazole 1% Topical Cream (Candid Cream) is classified by the US FDA as Pregnancy Category B. Clotrimazole is very poorly absorbed into the blood and the body after topical application to the skin or the vagina. Studies in women in their second or third trimesters of pregnancy have demonstrated no ill effects. There are, however, no adequate and well-controlled studies in pregnant women during the first trimester of pregnancy. Studies in pregnant rats with intravaginal doses up to 100 mg/kg have revealed no evidence of harm to the fetus due to Clotrimazole. Although the topical application of Clotrimazole has resulted in very low serum and tissue levels, the use of Candid 1% Topical Cream by pregnant women is not recommended unless it is on the advice of a physician. Candid 1% Topical Cream should not be used in the first trimester or if you are trying to get pregnant unless the physician considers it essential to the welfare of the patient. Candid Cream by Glenmark (Generic Clotrimazole 1% Topical Cream) Candid Cream During Nursing Available pharmacodynamic/toxicological studies in animals have shown excretion of Clotrimazole/metabolites in milk. Breastfeeding should be discontinued during treatment with Clotrimazole. Although the topical application of clotrimazole has resulted in very low serum and tissue levels, the use of Candid 1% topical cream by lactating women is not recommended unless it is on the advice of a physician.
