  1. Before embarking on this simulation, make sure have read chapter one and studied the notes. On this simulation you are the producer of a call-in radio show. You screen all the calls to make sure the DJ can answer the questions asked by the people who call your show. Today, the DJ will be answering questions over chapter one ( book and/or notes). Your job is to put on the DJ’s monitor ONLY callers ( by number) with questions covered in chapter one. For example, choose among the 12 callers currently on “hold” wishing to get on the show. Roll-over the mouse on the image to know what each caller wants to talk about. Each question is numbered, so make a list by number of the questions you think are covered in chapter one. At the bottom of this page record the numbers you believe are covered in chapter one. List the number of the questions over chapter one _1__ _2__ _4__ _7__ ___ ___

  2. In a democratic parties, elections, interest groups, and the media should link me to the government . I vote and a member of a political party but still to not feel connected to the government. 1

  3. 2 A direct democracy is where people govern themselves by having in face to face discussions with there government. It worked in Athenian and present day New England. So why do we have indirect democracy where voters select representatives?

  4. 3 I would like to talk about inclusive. You know a demotic assembly like the citizen body in a given geographical area which may encompass a town and the surrounding neighborhoods of large cities. Why is it that a inclusive democracy today can only take the form of a nonfederal democracy

  5. 4 I believe our government is following the elite and class theory that states where society is divided along class lines and that an upper-class elite rules. Wealth is seen as the basis of power, and a few powerful Americans are the policymakers. Tell me I’m wrong!

  6. 5 The Madisonian plan also provided for a system of separation of powers, in which each of the three branches of government would be relatively independent so that no single branch could control the others. Why have we abandon his plan?

  7. I believe we have gotten away from John Locke’s writings. The Second Treatise of Civil Government (1689). His philosophy was a belief in natural rights: before governments arise, people exist in a state of nature where they are governed only by the laws of nature. We need to get back to that Philosophy. 6

  8. In the good old USA we believe in equality of opportunity You know the idea that people should have an equal chance to develop their potential. Today I see more and more of equality of result the idea that actual inequalities among people must be eliminated, even if that will involve a redistribution of assets. Why does your show worry so much about making everything equal? 7

  9. I think in a democracy we should have one House bases on population. I know the conflict over representation for the states in Congress was the largest problem facing the framers . The small states favored the New Jersey ( representation based on equal vote) and the large states favored the Virginia Plan (representation based on population). The delegates resolved the conflict over representation for the states with the Connecticut Compromise. I know my history but the people not the states should rule the nation. Tell me I’m wrong.. 8

  10. Quick question, I was reading about a small band of farmers led by Captain Daniel Shays fought against the banks. What was all that about? 9

  11. 10 I believe today we have a large number and diversity of interest groups coupled with the decentralized nature of government makes it easy to prevent policy formulation and implementation. Congress is in policy gridlock. What can we do?

  12. 11 If you read Marxist orthodoxy it makes a lot of since. Because all it is trying to do is of eliminate the political elitism they see in capitalism. I agree . What is your opinion
