  2. To Begin: • Make a Project 3 folder which will be located on your desktop. • Name it “Project3files”

  3. DLG • http://edc.usgs.gov/geodata/textversion.html • Under 1/24,000 scale DLG Go to “FTP via State” link

  4. DLG continued… • Click on the state of choice and then the City of your choice. • First click on an attribute of your choice • Example- ‘Boundaries’ • Then click on the .gz file and save to your project3files folder.

  5. DEM • Under 1/250,000 scale DEM chose FTP via State • Chose State and Region of your choice. Use the uncompressed download • Save this file to your project3files folder

  6. DOQQ • http://www.pasda.psu.edu/ • Click on “Access Data” • Click on the link “DOQQ & DRG Viewer and Download utility” under the heading DOQQ and DRG’s • Click on “Identify and Download” and then click on the County of preference

  7. DOQQ continued… • Under the FTP heading download the MrSID file • Save to project3file

  8. Importing Your Data to Frontpage • Open the dlgv32 (make sure it is maximized) • Click on the file icon in the top left • Open one of the file types (DLG, DEM,etc.) • For the DEM and DLG files they will more or less open in compressed form. However the DOQQ file will need to be unzipped. Browse for the .sid file extension from dlvg32. You will be prompted to select the datum and coordinate system to open this file. You want to use NAD83 and UTM. • Alt+Print Screen which copies what you are looking at (For example screen prints go to the Project 3 link on ANGEL http://www.geog.psu.edu/courses/geog121/projects/ ) • Open a new front page document and paste image

  9. Import continued • In dlgv32 click “file” then “unload all” • Repeat process for the other two remaining data sets • Note: After the DOQQ screenprint be sure to delete the actual DOQQ file from your project3file folder
