  2. Our Journey so Far

  3. What have we done across faculties? • Formed a Technology Committee

  4. Technology Committee • Our committee has been formed, including: IPT Teacher, Primary AP, K1 Teacher, HSIE Staff, English Staff, Science Staff, Maths Staff & Librarian.

  5. Committee’s Achievements • The recent purchase of 4 new Data Projectors. • Purchase of specialised stands to house Projectors & Laptops. • Purchase of Inspiration and KidPix Software

  6. Committee’s Short Term Goals • Obtain a DET username and password for all staff and students • Develop a school Technology Statement • First stages of designing School Intranet using www.gptech.com.au as a guide • Organizing wireless Internet Access on Laptops in all classrooms

  7. Committee’s Long Term Goals • Develop a comprehensive School Intranet that is:

  8. Long Term Goals Continued • To get interested and willing staff to be committed to using technology as an innovative learning tool rather than as a ‘gadget’. This to be achieved through Professional Development

  9. Long Term Goals Continued • Video Conference, to be used for networking with other schools and opening up possibilities of offering a broader subject choice for students.

  10. Long Term Goals Continued • To better utilize Virtual Drive, so that a greater amount of students can have better access to electronic resources. • To introduce Web Services, to be used for net meetings between schools

  11. Long Term Goals Continued • Replace server to better accommodate new software. • Each interested teacher, to be given the opportunity of leasing their own Laptop.

  12. Resources • As a Team, we have compiled a comprehensive resources folder for each of us. These are to be shown to other staff members, with extra copies for those who want them. • These folders contain stuff from Glen Waverly, Langford, Kagan, CAP initiatives and in-service Professional Learning

  25. In The Classroom Continued • We’ve re-arranged seating • Used ‘Thinker’s Keys for assessment • Used Venn Diagrams • Used Graphic Organisers • Used HOM ‘accuracy’ & ‘Persistence as focus

  26. How have our actions impacted on our own development as teachers? • Felt more comfortable and professional in our own rooms • Helped us to address our goal of teaching to a range of abilities • We’ve shown other teacher’s the benefits of using technology as an everyday teaching tool

How have our actions impacted on students learning, self-esteem & attitude to learning? • Students from years 7-10 responded well to ‘Thinker’s Key’s’ & thought it was a worthwhile & enjoyable way of doing assessment tasks • Student’s love the Data Projector (everyone can read the text & graphic organisers mean less writing)!

  28. How have our actions impacted on students learning, self-esteem & attitude to learning? • Positive comments on ‘new look’ classrooms • Interestingly, older students have used posters of their own accord to help them as study guides for coming exams, esp. HOM

  29. What other training have we attended or would like to attend to support our P.D? • ELLA Marking • Beginning Teacher’s conferences • Priority Student’s Voice forum

  30. Where to in the future? • Develop our new skills • Incorporate more new teaching stategies as they come available • Improve my classroom management skills (Billie) • Get school Web Page up and running.
