  2. There are five major types of conflict: • Man vs. Man • Man vs. Self • Man vs. Nature • Man vs. Society • Man vs. Technology

  3. Man vs. Man • This occurs when a person is in conflict with another person. • For example, a man vs. man conflict could be an argument between a boyfriend and girlfriend.

  4. Man vs. Self • This occurs when someone is struggling with an internal problem: emotions, addiction, etc. • For example, a man vs. self conflict could be a person trying to recover from an addiction to alcohol or substance abuse.

  5. Man vs. Nature • This occurs when a person is in conflict with something in the natural world around them. • For example, a person hiding in roadside tornado shelter from an impending tornado would be a man vs. nature conflict.

  6. Man vs. Society • This type of conflict occurs when a person is in conflict with a large group of people or their beliefs. • For example, someone who is an extremist in their views may be considered to have a man vs. society conflict.

  8. Man vs. Technology • This type of conflict occurs when a person runs into a conflict with some type of technological problem. • An example of a Man vs. Technology conflict is: a student loses his report for school because his computer crashes due to not having enough memory.
