  1. Accounting in DataGrid Summary of activities Andrea Guarise Paris, March 5th, 2002 Andrea.Guarise@to.infn.it

  2. Introduction • Accounting infrastructure will help in “ruling” the Grid. • It will be an economic modeled system in which producers and consumers of “computing energy” will exchange “Grid Credits” in a virtual economy. • The integration of the economic feedback in the Resource Broker should help the Workload management system. Andrea.Guarise@to.infn.it

  3. Basic concepts • The key pieces of the system will be the HLRs that are sort of bank branches in which both producers (the resources) and consumers (the users) have their own accounts. • The economic model will set the “price” for every resource. Every “job” will have a cost computed by a “cost algorithm”. • Users will be charged for the cost of their jobs. Every user has a limited amount of funds. • Resource owners will gain the credits earned by their resources. Andrea.Guarise@to.infn.it

  4. Plans The following documents are planned: • HLR system architecture. • HLR Communication Protocol specifications. • Software user guides. The software will provide the following features: • APIs. • User Interface (For SysAdm and Users), both command line and Web. • Communication protocol, covering: HLR-HLR, CE-HLR, User-HLR. • Economic Model Example: Dynamic Weight Balancing Algorithm (DWBA), that dynamically adjust prices to balance system load. • Integration with Workload Management architecture. Andrea.Guarise@to.infn.it

  5. Plans • Plans for first intermediate release V1.1 (end of February 2002 ?): • Secured communications (via GSI), with Authentication and Encryption. (Globus 2.0) • Enhancement of the APIs. • User Interface (SysAdmin). • Document on HLR Communication Protocol specifications. Andrea.Guarise@to.infn.it

  6. Plans (Internal) • V1.2 (End of April) • Integration with WP1 Software. • Sensor for Fork Jobmanager (CPU, RAM, Storage?). • V1.3 (End of July) • User Interface (for Users). • Economic Model: DWBA first implementation. • V2.0 (End of September) • Testing • Bug Fixing • Integration Andrea.Guarise@to.infn.it
