2. About us • Alpha College of Engineering was established in the year 2006, at Thirumazhisai, Poonamallee in a lush, green and serene area of 60 acres. Approved by AICTE, Alpha College of Engineering is affiliated to Anna University. The College offers UG & PG degrees in various streams of Engineering and Management. • Under the guidance of renowned educationists Dr.Mrs.Grace George, Chairperson, Alpha Group of Institutions and Mrs.Suja George, Vice Chairperson, Alpha Group of Institutions carrying forward a legacy of two generations of educational eminence with her, the college within a short span of time has established itself as an institution that offers quality education to aspiring students. • Internationally Acclaimed TUV Suddeutschland, Germany, awarded ISO 9001:2008 Certificate to the College for Academic Standard.

3. Mechanical Engineering The Department of Mechanical Engineering was started in the year 2012 and has highly qualified, dedicated teaching faculty who provide in-depth knowledge and training in the field of Mechanical engineering covering thermal, manufacturing and design aspects to give exposure regarding the latest research, development and techniques taking place in the mechanical field, catering to the growing needs of the industries.

4. Electronics and communication engineering The Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering offers the undergraduate degree providing students with the knowledge and tools required to succeed in the field of Electronics and Communication Engineering. Since its establishment in the year 2006, the department has been focused on creating a high-standard academic environment that provides students with a solid, technical foundation that equips them to compete in the global markets. Several subjects covering fundamentals and advanced topics in the fields of Electronics and Communication. The expert faculty who brings practical experience into the classrooms ensuring that the students are moulded into sucessful professional engineers.

5. Computer Science and Engineering The Department of Computer Science and Engineering was established in the year 2006 with the objective to provide high quality technical education to students enabling them to excel in the field of engineering. The Department is led by experienced, committed and dynamic faculty who strive to achieve excellence in teaching and mould future computer professionals. The department, known for its emphasis on discipline, strives to equip students with skills necessary to meet challenges of the highly competitive software market.

6. Information Technology The Department of Information Technology was established in 2006, under the Faculty of Engineering and Technology. The department has excellent infrastructural facilities to provide quality education in the areas of Information Technology. The faculty members seek to establish, maintain and advance a broad understanding of Computer Science in order to fulfil their academic and professional goals.

7. Biomedical Engineering The Department of Biomedical Engineering started in the year 2006. The department works towards helping students gain comprehensive knowledge of the industrial requirements.

8. MBA The Department of Management Studies is lead by highly qualified and experienced faculty and experts from the industry. Students are encouraged to undertake industry based and internet based assignments, which enhance their analytical as well as problem solving skills. Moreover students undergo extensive training – both technical and non-technical as part of career grooming

9. Library • The Central Library provides academic support to all students and faculty of the college. It has a collection of 14,751 text and reference books in addition to national and international journals that deal with the various branches of Engineering, Science, Technology, Management and General Studies. The Institution subscribes to 66 national and 150 online (International) journals, thereby regularly updating the library with recent publications. • Books are classified according to Dewey Decimal Classification Scheme. The Library is equipped with Multimedia Computers with Internet connectivity, CDs, e-books, e-journals, on-line databases and open source resources. Open access system is followed in the library. • The library is open from 8.30 a.m. to 5.00 p.m. on all working days.

10. Anti Ragging • Any form of ragging on or off campus is prohibited and will not be tolerated. To prevent issues like ragging and any other grievances that women face, Alpha has commenced the following committees. • The Anti Ragging Committee and Anti Ragging Squad that ensure protection to new students against any physical or psychological harassment • The Discipline and Welfare Committee that ensures the welfare of students by encouraging them to follow rules and regulations set by organisation • The Complaints and Redressal Committee, which addresses the complaints of the students • These Committees are chaired by the Principal along with relevant members who include the following. 1. 11. Entrepreneurship Development Cell The objective of E-Cell is to throw light on the opportunities of entrepreneurship and to nurture the passion for creativity and innovation among the students. Various activities are organised by E-Cell, to encourage the students to identify the entrepreneurial skills and pave way for developing them. E-Cell provides a platform for students to convert their ideas into implementable business plans. Various other activities like E-Talks by eminent speakers and seminars & conferences, enhance the overall development of students and help them become hardcore entrepreneurs.

12. Soft Skills & BEC The Soft Skills Program focuses on English Language training. Participants are taught - vocabulary, how to comprehend sentences spoken or written in English and also simple English conversation. This apart students are also trained on how to - groom themselves for the interview, face interviews confidently and build a rapport with the interviewer and answer questions. The Cambridge English: Business Certificates, also known as Business English Certificates (BEC), are a suite of three English language qualifications for international business and are trusted and globally accepted by leading employers, educational institutions and governments. Alpha Students undergo this as a part of their academics.
