About EWB • MISSION: Our mission is to partner with the Purdue community, the professional chapters and developing communities worldwide to implement sustainable engineering projects that promote the advancement of global community development through engineering skills and knowledge. • All majors welcome • Even non-engineers • All stages of your education • Student chapters all over the U.S. and worldwide • Project locations in over 35 countries

  4. Current Projects- Bolivia • Papachacra, Bolivia • 120 families • No resources or government aid • What’s involved: • Water and wastewater treatment • Water supply • Irrigation

  5. Current Projects- Bolivia • Assessment trip • Early August of 2009 • Water samples • Surveying • Soil compaction testing • Site map

  6. Bolivia: Post-Assessment • Use data from assessment trip to develop water supply solutions and water quality treatments • Look at what’s been done with similar projects • Determine appropriate technology • Filtration • Piping • Plan implementation trip

  7. Collaborations • Accra, Ghana • Collaborative effort with EWB-Princeton • Design drawings for library • Swaziland • Collaborative side project with West Lafayette High School and Seeds of Hope Outreach program • Design outreach centers for children who have lost their parents to AIDS

Where we are now • Fundraising • Grillout/ Hot Dog Eating Contest on Engineering Mall • WEDNESDAY, 4/22, 11am-2pm • Presentation at the 7th annual Purdue Geotechnical Society workshop • Speaker Dr. Bernard Amadei, founder of EWB-USA • “Engineering with a Human Face” • Friday, April 24th, 4:30 pm in Fowler Hall • Trip Logistics • Health and safety training • Design drawings for Ghana library for Princeton
