  4. 52 WHAT IS IPTV? IPTV (Internet Protocol Television) is a system where a digital television services is delivered using the Internet protocol over a network IPTV services may be classified into three main groups: live television, with or without interactivity related to the current TV show; time-shifted television: catch-up TV (replays a TV show that was broadcast hours or days ago), start-over TV (replays the current TV show from its beginning); video on demand (VOD): browse a catalog of videos, not related to TV programming. IPTV service was launched on 24/3/2010 which is part of UniFi triple play.

  20. 2.9 Accessing the Configuration Page Use the remote control of the STB to enter #1397# and the password 8288 sequentially, the STB Configuration page appears.

  22. 2.10 Saving Settings To save the changed settings, enter the password 3008 in the password text box, and then click Save. If the message "successful!" is displayed, it indicates that the changed settings have been successfully saved. If the message "password error!" is displayed, you need to enter the correct password and try to save the changed settings again.

  40. 4.1 UNICAST VS MULTICAST High Bandwidth required between the video source and a number of end-users Video source make separate video streams for each recipient Reduced Bandwidth requirements between video source and multiple end-users Network devices (routers) makes copies of video stream for every recipient Unicast = one to one Multicast = one to many
  41. 4.2 UNICASTING Unicasting is the traditional way that packets are sent from a source to a single destination Each user who wants to view the video must make a request to the video source. The source needs to know the destination IP address of each user and must create IP packets addressed to each user. As the # of viewers increase, the load on the network increases Each viewer gets a custom tailored video stream which allows the video source to offer specialized features such as pause, rewind and fast-forward of video.   42. 4.3 MULTICASTING Multicasting unlike Unicasting, puts the burden of creating streams for each user on that network devices (routers) rather than on the video source IP Packets are given special IP Addresses to be recognized by the network as Multicast.   54. 6.1 IPTV Error code and system overview Network or IPTV system issue IPTV system issue Some IPTV faults have error code and symptom, some ones only have symptom. IPTV faults can be caused by IPTV system, STB or network issue.
  55. 6.2 STB ERROR CODE STB Error does not just contain STB problem, it is composed by 5 sub-error code, each means a kind of service . Compared with EPG error code, STB error code concerns more basic services. The STB error code is classified by the first 3-digits number.

  58. 6.5 EPG ERROR CODE (20XXXX & 901XXX) EPG Error Code and STB Error Code are different, Main concern about EPG error code is regarding EPG operation and EPG server condition problem. For example: bookmark，lock/unlock，username/password, etc. , Therefore these errors usually easy to locate and solve. EPG error codes can be categorized as EPG service operation and EPG service status：
