Tomato is proven non-poisonous- 1820 • People back in the 1800’s and earlier, ate and enjoyed them and some folks believed that they are poisonous and refused to let them anywhere near the table. • In the plant family, Solanaceae,home to the deadly nightshade and many other poisonous plants. • Thought it was poisonous because of the foliage of the tomato plant, which contains sulfur and smells bad. www.whatscookingamerica.net

  5. Raggedy Anne Doll- 1917 • Is a fictional character. • Created by American writer, Johnny Gruelle, for his daughter. • Raggedy Ann is a rag doll with red yarn for hair and has a triangle shaped nose. www.danburymint.com

  6. 1st Flight between Hawaiian Islands- 1918 • It captured the imagination and hearts of residents who dreamed of traveling by air. • The Hawaiians could now fly between the islands and to Mainland (United States), Asia and Australia. www.nps.gov
