  2. Concept Talk What is life like for an astronaut?

  3. Partner Share • Ellen Ochoa described weightlessness. Do you think you would enjoy weightlessness? • Why or why not? • We learned that a spacecraft can orbit things in space. What might you see if you could orbit Mars?

  4. Amazing Words • Momentum- the quantity of motion of a moving body • The momentum of the space shuttle keeps it moving long after the engines have burned out. • Solar- means from the sun • During the solar eclipse, the light from the sun is blocked by the moon. • Teach your partner these words

  5. This, that, these and Those • This and these refer to objects that are close by. • That and those refer to objects farther away.

  6. Vocabulary Gravity-a force that attracts objects toward the center of the Earth There is no gravity on the moon. Monitors- television sets The family watched the launch from the monitors. • Teach your partner these words.

  7. Vocabulary • Role- part in a play or movie • She accepted a role in the cowboy movie. • Specific-exact • Frank has a specific skill that was needed on the flight. Teach your partner these words.

  8. Vocabulary Accomplishments- things done with skill He counted the flight among his accomplishments. Focus- main point of interest Becoming an astronaut was his main focus. Teach your partner these words.

  9. Vocabulary • Biology- the study of living things • Astronauts bring back evidence from the moon to help us understand the biology of the moon. • Teach your partner this word
