  2. What is a virus? A virus is a malicious program that can be executed on the computer and can cause damage to it.

  3. What does a virus do? The usual computer virus corrupts files and folders on the computer and makes it so that the user can not operate the system.

  5. Scamware Scamware has become the new popular trend for malware. It asks the victim to pay money to unlock their computer

Getting Viruses Unsuspecting users can get viruses easily. • Websites can have a hidden launcher than can download viruses into the computer and save them for future execution. • Email Viruses were large back then. Melissa and ILOVEYOU emails. • Suspicious links • USB or any other external transfer

  7. Melissa Virus “Here is that document you asked for ... don't show anyone else ;-)” This was the message of the email virus called “Melissa”. The email came with a file with a .doc extension and when launched, macro virus is enabled.

  8. Protection! Anti-viruses are crucial in protecting computers nowadays. They protect against viruses the purpose of them is to detect and delete malware. Firewalls also help in blocking threats.
