REGISTRATION EVENTS • 6th Grade Rally at Kastner Intermediate – Friday, March 21st • Information / Course Descriptions • Registration Forms will be sent home this date • Presentation by all visual and performing arts • Tour of campus • School Site Registration – forms due to 6th grade teacher by the day of your school’s registration visit

  4. REGISTRATION All students will be enrolled into: Academic Block (ELA & History) Science Math PE Elective

  5. REGISTRATION ELECTIVES: Choral Music Instrumental Music Colorguard Strength and Conditioning Academic Seminar Elective Wheel (random cycle of two electives) Leadership (application) AVID (teacher recommendation)

  6. ELECTIVE WHEEL Two semester courses depending on elective period: • Art • Ceramics • Drama • Exploring Tech

  7. ZERO PERIOD PE Zero Period PE – Performing Arts ONLY Students may take two music electives and Zero Period PE Starts at 6:45 am PARENT PERMISSION REQUIRED – SIGNATURE REQUIRED ON THE REGISTRATION FORM

  8. MATH PLACEMENT 7th grade math courses, Math 7 and Advanced Math 7 Advanced Math placement based onMath Placement Test score 6th Grade math benchmarks Grades in math Teacher Input

  9. ADVANCED SCIENCE PLACEMENT • Placement Test Optional • Elect on Registration form • Teacher input and scores on 5th grade CST are also part of Advanced Science placement determination • Advanced Science students must participate in Science Fair or Science Olympiad

  10. TECHNOLOGY IN EDUCATION Every 7th grade student will have daily access to laptops in AB classes as needed for instruction (ONLY during AB period). Students may bring their own laptops. Storage during the day is available.

REGISTRATION EVENTS Registration Packet Pick-Up at Kastner * Tuesday, Aug. 5 – Friday, Aug. 8 * 8:00 A.M. – 4:00 P.M. in the Library Pick-Up Schedule / ID Card /Purchase PE Clothes, Yearbook , Spirit Packs, Spirit Wear * Thursday, Aug. 14 at Kastner MPR * A-G 3:00-4:00pm, H-O 4:00-5:00pm, P-Z 5:00 – 6:00pm

  13. REQUIREMENTS FOR SCHEDULE PICK-UP All immunizations must be current SEE SCHOOL NURSE FOR REQUIREMENTS! All financial obligations must be cleared MUST BE IN DRESS CODE

  14. STUDENT ACTIVITIES STUDENTS CAN GET INVOLVED! WEB Day: Where Everyone Belongs CLUBS and ORGANIZATIONS: Student Government, Science Fair, Science Olympiad, Robotics, Math Counts, Folklorico, History Day & Lunch Activities Athletics

  15. WEB - Where Everyone Belongs Every 7th grader will be invited to attend WEB Day on Tuesday, Aug. 19 9:00-12:45 in the Gym. Invitation is in the Registration packet to be picked up August 5-8.

  16. ATHLETICS SPORTS • Health Screening – required prior to any participation in athletics • May 14, 2014 6:30 - 8:00 P.M. • Clovis West High School – WEST Gym • $ 25.00 • Screening forms provided

  18. TRANSPORTATION Busses outside of the 2.5 mile radius Community-funded busses – contact your elementary school office City busses – School District does not provide bus fare

  19. DAILY SCHEDULE Monday, Tuesday & Friday: Period 1 begins at 7:40 A.M. Students attend all six period Dismissal at 2:25 P.M.

  20. DAILY SCHEDULE Wednesday & Thursday – Period 1 starts at 7:55 A.M. Wednesdays – Even classes only Thursdays – Odd classes only Dismissal at 2:25 P.M.

  21. DAILY SCHEDULE Four-Day School Weeks NO LATE-START DAYS Period 1 begins at 7:40 A.M. Students attend all six periods each day Dismissal at 2:25 P.M.
