Test Giver - Cons • Does test cover information taught during instruction? • Students cheating • Validity & Reliability of test itself • Teacher needs to make sure test is appropriate for all learning levels • Time it takes to administer tests • Teaching to the tests • Pressures of high-stakes testing

  4. Test Taker - Pros • Take taker is able to see the results of their tests and identify their individual strengths and weaknesses • Tests validate what student knows • Tests can be a motivator to improve • Teacher who welcomes authentic assessment

  5. Test Taker - Cons • Test anxiety • Does test cover information taught during instruction? • Validity & Reliability of test itself • Outside influences • Learning levels of students compared to tests • Penalties from tests*
