From Health to Telehealth • Health A state of complete physical, mental and social well-being and not merely the absence of disease or infirmity • Telemedicine A delivery of healthcare and exchange of health care information across distance The Greek τήλε = tele - “at a distance” & “medicina” or “arsmedicina” - “healing” • eHealth Refers to the use of modern information and communication technologies to meet the needs of citizens, patients, healthcare professionals, healthcare providers, as well as policy makers • Telehealth The means by which technologies and related services at a distance are accessed by or provided for people at home or in the wider community in order to facilitate their empowerment, assessment or the provision of care and/or support in relation to needs associated with their health (including clinical health) and wellbeing.
