Inspired by the needs of Chief Medical Officers, our approach emphasizes quick access to critical information and supports complex analysis, encapsulated by our project slogan: "We're building a question answering machine!"

A question answering machine. 10M 1 in 10 clicks or less! Navigating through huge amounts of data can be a challenge. This two screen sequence is part of a clickable prototype. Starting from a tree map diagram that can display rolled up clinical data for millions of people, the user can navigate down to an individual physician and an individual patient in about 10 mouse clicks. The core concept here became a project slogan: “We’re building a question answering machine!” The drill down levels were actually modeled after a complex spreadsheet that documented what kinds of questions a Chief Medical Officer might ask when developing data to analyze a particular topic.
