  1. Intelligent Farm(BitSquad, Nationality: Indian) Purpose: To automate farming, decrease wastage of resources with inexpensive technology. Motivation: To aid farmers of underdeveloped and developing countries who don't have the resources to buy expensivesystems. Application: This system has been primarily designed for monitoring and managing water usage in a typical farm crop. Project Details: Soil Moisture and Temperature sensor are placed at suitable locations for monitoring of crops. The sensor data would be collected in a central processing unit (AtMega 16 microcontroller) using Analog to Digital Convertor (ADC) of microcontroller. A collection of data of suitable conditions needed by a given type of crop in a given type of soil (database) will be looked into and compared with the present sensor values to determine the amount of water needed by that crop. The system has two modes of irrigation namely Automatic and Manual. It is best to keep the mode automatic as it will monitor the sensor outputs and act on the fly though the user may switch to manual if he wishes to. The user interface of the system is very simple and easy to use. It can be controlled with only four buttons. Any new user can learn to operate it within 2 minutes. The system is designed so as to bring down the total cost as much as possible so that even poor farmers can use this technology for their farms. Power consumed by the system is minimal. Power requirement: 2.5 Watt (with 6 sensors) Project cost =Rs. 1930 or 49,300 KRW Time taken to complete the project = 1.5 months Project Architecture: Overall System Architecture • Software Architecture Development Environment: WINAVR (Programmer’s Notepad, Mfile) VUSB : BootloadHID Custom made bootloader kit Photos of the results
