  3. A national circulation system – costs Approx. 20 Million SEK / year KB don’t have the money to purchase/develop and implement the software The libraries don’t have the money until the costs for the local systems are gone Who will pay during the meantime?

  9. Since then… • Specification of functionality, including architecture • Request for information, RFI • All systems had the requested circulation functionality (or was ”good enough”) • None of the systems had the requested SOA architecture (or was ”modular enough”)

  10. Conclusion • The answers to the RFI give us no reason to believe that there, for the time being, is an appropriate system available on the market • Possible solutions: • In-house development combined with use of opensource software • Cooperation within the Nordic countries

  11. And now • Final report in a couple of weeks • Reactions from the libraries • The National Librarian decides whether or not to proceed with the question • If we are to proceed, the next step should be a more concrete technical project • Financial question still isn’t solved
