  1. How to Avoid weight gain during Ramadan

Introduction • Suhoor and Iftar are two elements of Ramadan that have great significance to Muslims. • Suhoor is the food that is eaten before sunrise and Iftar is the food that is eaten after sunset. • After fasting for several hours during the day, people are often unable to resist the temptation to binge eat after breaking the fast. • This end up gaining weight.

  3. Reasons for weight gain • Eating continuously from breaking the fast till suhoor. • By being inactive after iftar. • Taking large quantity of food, more than the usual. • Eating deep fried food and high fat and calorie foods like pastries and samosa.

  4. How to Avoid • Avoid Over eating Maintain a balanced and light diet during Iftar. • Chew the Food For a proper digestion, chew the food slowly.

  5. Appetizers first Eat your soup and salad first, as these are low in calories, make you feel full and helps in better digestion too. • Drink Enough Water During Non-Fasting time, at least 8 glasses of water is a must.

  6. Fruits & Juices Try to have lots of fresh fruits and fresh juices without adding sugar. • Low Fat Eat low fat dairy products and lean meats.

  7. Walk Everyday Walk everyday or do some kind of exercises for at least half an hour to one hour in order to burn the extra calories. Using healthy food items for preparing Iftar will also do thetrick. Reduce the amount of fat in your meals by cooking your food with a little bit of vegetable oil, baking, roasting, steaming or grilling.
