2014 Winner The 2014 race was held as a night race under floodlights. It became the second Formula One night race after the Singapore Grand Prix, to commemorate the tenth anniversary of the first staging of the Grand Prix.[6] It was won by Lewis Hamilton. In February 2014, Grand Prix organizers for Bahrain made a decision to name the first corner of the iconic track after former seven-time champion German driver Michael Schumacher in honour of his achievements and also in support after the driver suffered an almost fatal skiing accident late December 2013.[
Background Information The circuit was designed by German architect Hermann Tilke The circuit cost approximately 56.2 million Bahraini Dinars[7] (US$150 million) It has six separate tracks, including a test oval and a drag strip. The surface of the track is made of Graywackeaggregate which is a variety of Sandstone. The first Bahrain Grand Prix took place on the 4th of April, 2004, making history as the first Formula One Grand Prix to be held in the Middle East
