Example Question & Answer • What are the drop-and-drag rules for folders? • (1) Dragging a file or folder while pressing the right mouse button allows you to move, copy, or create a shortcut to the file in the new folder. (2) Pressing CTRL while dragging results in a move. (3) Dragging a file to another drive results in a copy, as opposed to a move. (4) Pressing and holding down SHIFT while pressing the left mouse button and dragging a file or folder to another folder will result in a move. (5) Program files are treated differently than data files: when you drag a program file to a new folder, the program file is not removed or copied. Instead, a shortcut to the program is created. To actually move a program you must be logged on as an Administrator.
