  5. What is Google Drive? • GoogleDrive is available with any Gmail account (Gmail.com) • Originally called GoogleDocs, now Google Drive • Can store just about any type of file in GoogleDrive (Microsoft, image files, PDF, etc.)

  6. Navigating Google Drive Homepage • Black Tool bar across the top with option ‘Drive’ • Once in drive, options down the left-hand side • ‘Activity’ or ‘My Drive’ • Upload button allows you to upload files or folders • Can upload, maintain, and download • documents OR convert to GoogleDocs • format for editing

Creating Google Docs • Serves as a Word Processing suite • Create • Document, Presentation, Spreadsheet, Form, Drawing • Tool bar across the top similar to Microsoft word • Auto save feature • Title your documents! • Insert comments into word document • Under File • Make a copy • Revision History • Download as…

  8. Practice Time!!! • Practice creating either a document, presentation, or spreadsheet • Try to make sure you feel comfortable with each of the steps we have covered • Advanced Google doc’ers, please assist your neighbors

Sharing with fellow Google Doc User • In the Activity screen, Right click anywhere on the document line, click share and share again • Sharing settings allows you to choose who the document is being shared with and their editing privilege • Can send email alert as well as message regarding document • Notice that document now says ‘shared’

Sharing through email with non-Google Doc user • In the Activity screen, Right click anywhere on the document line, click share and email as attachment • Document converting • You can change the document type to allow recipient to edit document (Attach as…select file type) • Document conversion issues • Email Collaborators • In the Activity screen, Right click anywhere on the document line, click share and email collaborators

File Organization & Management • Activity area: sorted by ‘Last Modified’ • Activity area only shows documents, not folders • Can take items out of this area, but save them in All items • All items area: sorted by ‘Last Modified’, can be changed using sort drop down • All items shows all documents, folders, etc. • Use folder creation to organize documents • Search bar can assist locating items

Creating Forms • Can use for quizzes, surveys, info gathering… • Create (Big, Red button), Title, Directions • Select Question type and decide if required • Select pencil icon to edit questions • Add item: allows you to add question, section header, or page break • Theme button allows you to make it pretty 

Sending Forms • Use Share/Send Form button at top of screen to send to fellow Google Doc or Gmail users • Use email this form to email to others • May find it easier to send to self and distribute • Note include form in email checkbox • From Activity screen • click on form (in spread sheet view) • click on send form and input names of recipients • send to multiple recipients, select embed form in webpage, copy form address and paste into email-allows you to send to anyone

Viewing Forms and Answers • In activity section, click on form-(may be in spreadsheet form) • To view form, click on Form drop down at top and select ‘live form’ • You can edit form in this same area by clicking the Form drop down at top and selecting ‘edit form’ • Notification: Under tools, you can select when you are notified (as user submits form)
