  1. The Impact of our P.E & Sport Funding Please feel free to investigate the different ways we have been getting Physically Active!

  2. ‘The delivery of P.E at St. John’s’ • Every year our teachers evaluate our experiences of P.E. ‘Green’ statements show where our School is doing well, ‘Red’ shows where we are trying to get better! We have looked at these statements and we have picked 4 areas that will we attempt to improve over the course of this academic year. We would like to share with you where we will improve and how we plan to do so:

  3. Our School is in the process of improving the following areas…. Red 1: Pupils’ progress is systematically and resources, including computer and video technology is used regularly and effectively to enhance learning. Red 2: Teachers and coaches use assessment data to plan further challenges for more able pupils and provide additional support for less able pupils. Red 3: Rigorous lesson monitoring, regular staff training and the sharing of best practice have eradicated weaknesses, adding greater consistency to teaching and learning.

  4. Red 1: Pupils’ progress is systematically and resources, including computer and video technology is used regularly and effectively to enhance learning. Red 2: Teachers and coaches use assessment data to plan further challenges for more able pupils and provide additional support for less able pupils. • Action Plan response: • Mr. Sigley has written 111 new Schemes of Work and developed an easy to use assessment system. The Collegiate has pre-set assessment deadlines that all teachers at St. John’s will adhere to. This will allow Staff to monitor the progress of their pupils rigorously in P.E. • The children at St. John’s will benefit from learning these exciting activities…. Action Plan response: On Nov 7th 2018 all Staff will attend a Staff meeting focusing on the correct use of the new assessment system. 2 more dates have been scheduled to embellish the existing P.E CPD programme. At the staff meeting assessment collection dates will be set for all Staff allowing P.E Specialist Mr. Sigley & P.E Co-ordinator Mr. Smith to monitor Staff’s assessment of P.E. All Staff will also work with Mr. Sigley for at least half a term to enable their formative assessment skills to be strengthened further.

  5. Red 3: Rigorous lesson monitoring, regular staff training and the sharing of best practice have eradicated weaknesses, adding greater consistency to teaching and learning. Action Plan response: A new timetable is in place which allows every class to have 2 designated slots for Physical Education (including hall space). This will enable the leadership team to be able to monitor P.E across the whole School. SLT are to schedule a learning walk scheduled for the Summer term. In addition to this all teaching staff are to complete a ‘Subject Knowledge audit’ to enable all CPD to address any perceived weaknesses in Subject Knowledge

  6. P.E Pupil Voice! Jay (Y4) – “I love learning how to look after my body!” Joseph (Y6) – “I love it when we learn new skills from new sports” Sydney (Y5) – “I can’t get enough P.E… it’s great!”

  7. Look how many of us are attending Sports Clubs! • In 2017/18 51.22% of pupils have attended a Sports Club. We are hoping to improve this by at least 10% in 2018/19!

  8. Our Olympians! These children achieved the top classification on our annual Bleep test! Excellent effort guys, Well Done! Jay Bailey Sam Talbot-Beech

  9. At St.Peter’s we make sure everybody is challenged to be their best! • ‘Powered Up’ • The ‘Powered Up’ club is full of children who are just starting to get active! They chose the name of the club and are enjoying getting fitter and stronger with Ms.Hilton! Power Up! • ‘Sports Stars’ • Our ‘Sports Stars’ are a group of pupils who have shown an extra exciting level of potential! This group works hard to get even better at clubs and Special events through the Collegiate.
