Back Ground • Crystal Caves is one of the biggest natural attractions in the world and is located in Pennsylvania in Kutztown . • It first opened in 1871 and has just more than a cave it has more things to do that is fun for the whole family. • Later in the PowerPoint I will tell you all the other attractions in crystal caves.

  3. History • On November 12, 1871 William Merkel and his assistant John Gehert were taking TNT and blowing up pieces of limestone for Williams parents farm. • Well they blasted a huge hole in the side of a cave and then they rounded up some neighbors and they got ropes and lights and torches and ladders. Then they had discovered its crystals.

  4. Activities • You get to go into Crystal Caves but first they show you a 10 minute video of the history of the cave. • Then you can also go to a water stream were you can maybe get some shavings of the crystals or rock formation. • You also get to go mini golfing and they have a restaurant there if you get hungry and a mineral shop for souvenirs.

  12. Book Back Ground • My book talks about mostly how they form and were you can find them usually. So I just broke it down and I also so put what rock formation are in the cave and mostly. • They don’t really talk about crystal caves that much but I would recommend because they tell you a lot of rock formations. • Plus if you are doing a project on rock formations this is the book for you.

  13. Rock Formations • They are made shining dazzling display of pure beautiful attractions. They are made of drops of water clinching together like a magnet then they freeze and don’t stop. • Real crystals it starts as a minerals and then a bunch of these things called nucleations and they go on the top of crystals and then they build up and get bigger and so forth.
