Greensboro Four by: Alex Vallejo. Introduction.
E N D
Introduction • On Feb.1,1960 four African American boys sat at a lunch counter at F.W Woolworths Store, they asked for food but were denied. The next day they came back with more students. Again they’re requests were denied. Again and again more people showed up and finally the law was passed that all people were allowed to eat at the store.
A Arrested- people sometimes got arrested for sitting in. .
B • Beaten- they were often scared that they would get beaten for sitting in.
C • Courage- they had a lot of courage to sit at the counter at Woolworths store.
D • Dream- it was their dream to change the segregation law.
E • Exciting- although sit ins were not meant to be exciting it was exciting to see what would happen next.
F • February 1, 1960- This was the date that the first sit in occurred.
G • Greensboro, North Carolina- This is the city where the first sit ins were held.
H • Heroes- After the law was passed they were considered heroes.
I • Inspired- The guys were inspired by Martin Luther King Jr. to do the sit ins.
J • Justice- they fought for justice.
K • Kind- the four boys were very kind, when ever they were mistreated they were just kind to the people.
L • Loyal- all of the people involved were all loyal to each other and never left each other.
M • MCMXM (1990)- the four men went back to Woolworths store.
N • Nonviolent- they sat peacefully at the counter while people yelled at them they reacted nonviolently.
O • One- it is amazing that only one group changed everything.
P • Protest- sit ins where a way of protesting peacefully
Q • Quiet- some of the people involved were shy and quiet.
R • Refuse- They’re waitress refused to serve them because of their skin color.
S • Segregation- this was the law that separated colored people from non-colored people.
T • Ted Shuttlesworth- He was also another person involved in sit ins. He often said, ”To change the law, we had to break the law.”
U University of A&T- This is the college that the guys attended.
V • Variety- Woolworths store was a variety store where you could get candy, food, and drinks.
W Woolworths store- the store where the first sit in occurred.
X • XXV (25)- the day after the first day of the sit ins 25 more students came and joined the sit ins.
Y • Yeingst- he convinced Woolworths owner to put the four stools that the four boys sat in, in the Smithsonian museum.
Z • Zig- zag- some people described the Greensboro fours actions as,”a zig zag of change around the U.S.”
Conclusion • After the sit in acts the segregation law was passed, and all people were allowed to eat at F.W Woolworths store
