Why a Housing Bureau • A housing bureau has been established to facilitate requests for rooms in the city for large conferences, events and exhibitions. • It is necessary to centralise the requests to avoid duplication. • A point of contact for the large conference venues and bookers such as CCD, O2, RDS, AIPCO members etc..

Why Are the IHF Establishing the Dublin Housing Bureau • To protect the interest of hoteliers – the AIPCO were looking at establishing a HB, commission of 15%. • IHF will operate the Housing Bureau as a non revenue source. • The commission rates are transparent • The housing bureau can be used nationally • The IHF already have a database of hotels set – up on the In1 console.

What do hoteliers have to do • Dublin needs to be competitively priced to ensure the success of the city as a conference venue. • Hotels need to think of the big picture rather than ‘going for the kill’ on one event. • Allocations must be substantial as organisers prefer a limited amount of hotels • Hotels to commit to ‘charter’. • Charter : To ensure the success of Dublin as a worldwide competitive conference destination I commit to the charter of Dublin Hoteliers to offer value, quality service and a warm welcome to all conference and convention guests of Dublin. • To populate availability on the In1 system 5 years forward. • To work together for the better interest of the city.

  5. How does it work • Enquiries will come to HB from CCD or other venue, if a general enquiry the availability will be taken from the allocation. • If the bid progresses the hotels will be then e- mailed to hold the dates. • If Dublin is then a contender the rates and availability will be firmed up following site inspections and finalising of the bid process.

  6. Cost to Hoteliers • A commission rate of 8% + VAT charged to hotels. • Hotels who have not contributed to DCB pay 12% + VAT. • No membership fee of Housing Bureau. • The IHF will operate the HB for two years with no revenue. • 3% in1, 1% marketing fund, balance administration of Housing Bureau.

  7. Relationships • The IHF will work closely with CCD (Opening Sept 2010) and other venues. • Hoteliers • The AIPCO have been consulted and are onboard with process. • Dublin Convention Bureau • In1 Solutions are Software provider
