Now Showing:Annual Parent Meeting • Every year Title I schools are required to hold a meeting for parents to provide them an opportunity to learn about their school’s participation in Title I, Part A programs and to discuss the requirements and rights of parents to become involved in those programs.

  3. Important kernels of information P • Plan to meet within first month of school • Open House does not count for the parent meeting • Prepare for multiple times to accommodate different needs O P

  4. What is the ticket to drawing a crowd? • Provide a fun activity to go along with it • Book bingo • Make it, take it night • Provide food • Provide transportation • Provide child care • Provide door prizes

  5. How can you make it a BLOCKBUSTER? • Survey parents prior to the meeting • Send letters inviting parents a month ahead of time • Make personal phone calls inviting parents about a week before • Send reminders a couple days before

  6. How can you make it a BLOCKBUSTER? • Prepare a DVD, brochure, etc. to give to parents to help them learn about the school • Provide opportunity for parents to voice concerns or ask questions • Provide information for community resources

What will make the movie? • Agenda • Welcome and introductions • What should your child be learning? • How does Title I help your child learn? • School improvement plan • Parent rights and staying informed • How can you help your child learn? • Upcoming events • Evaluations of Title I program • Questions and concerns • Adjourn
