  2. A Readability Formula FLESCH-KINCAID GRADE LEVEL READABILITY FORMULA In 1948, Rudolph Flesch, an author, and a supporter of Plain English Movement, created the Reading Ease Readability Formula. This formula tests the ease or difficulty with which a document may be read. In 1976 the US Navy modified the Reading Ease formula to produce a grade-level score. John Kincaid helped to modify the Formula, so today It has been renamed the Flesch Kincaid Grade Level Readability Formula The US Government Department of Defense uses Flesch-Kincaid Grade Level formula as a standard test; however, this Formula is best suited in the field of education..
