  1. Roof Rainwater catchment • Ideally should have: • Good material for gutter (PVC, high grade aluminium) • Solid clamp to attach gutter to the roof (carefull strong winf…) • Large tank of 750L (15L/p/d * 50 person in shelter) • Tank has heavy duty tap, and 3 complete spare tap to replace tap if broken • Tank elevated of 1m (above flood level) • Tank located close to roof • Cloth filter or mesh on top of tank to avoid impurities from roof going into tank • Tank should have 2” overflow pipe

  2. Bad: container too far from roof

  3. Good: container should be elevated, with a tap

  4. Good container but too far from roof, and gutter material too light

  5. Good container, with cloth filter on top to filter impurities from roof, and overflow pipe

  6. Bad gutter system, will leak and last only 1 month. Better grade aluminum is needed or other material should be used

  7. Very good gutter in Ivory coast (PVC fitting)

  8. Very good gutter using good quality aluminum and fixing system in Ethiopia

  9. Also good plastic gutter in Columbia

  10. Water for the latrine…

  11. Good catchment for a household in Columbia, with overflow pipe
