CEN • CEN - the European Standards Committee • One of three European Standardization Organizations - with ETSI and CENELEC - formally recognized by the EC • A non-profit association, whose 28 members are national standards bodies in EU and EFTA • CEN/ISSS: since 1997, focal point for ICT issues within CEN The mission of CEN/ISSS is to provide market players with a comprehensive and integrated range of standardization-oriented services and products, in order to contribute to the success of the Information Society in Europe

  3. eBusiness Interoperability Forum The European platform for the consideration of interoperability solutions relating to eBusiness, making strategic recommendations concerning standardization activities required to achieve this. • Started in 2004 – 70 members • Chair: Dick Raman, TIE Holding N.V. • Focus: semantic interoperability • Bringing together technology providers and users of eBusiness software • Roadmap on key issues for eBusiness interoperability: new edition coming • Liaising with European and global initiatives • Conference “Interoperability – The backbone of eBusiness”, Utrecht (NL) 28-29 November 2005 www.cenorm.be/isss/eBIF_Conference

  4. eGovernment Focus Group To determine role that standards play in eGovernment as means to achieve interoperability at all levels of public administration in EU Started: 16 Feb 2005 Chair: Peter Brown, EP – now seconded to Austrian Administration Work-programme - Potential and current use of standards in eGovernment (all levels) • Gap analysis and roadmap • Contribution to IDAbc clearing house infrastructure discussions • Awareness and dissemination Input to high level meeting under Austrian presidency (Vienna, 9-10 Feb. 2006 ) Final Report June 2006
