What is it • Virtual BU will be a photo realistic, modeled 3D virtual world based on the BU campus • The purpose of Virtual BU is to be able to provide online users with a realistic introduction to BU where they can take walking tours of the campus (ala Second Life) and ask questions and get answers regarding the campus

  3. Plan • Multi-year project • Year 1 – modeling of the campus • Year 2 – more Modeling,Customization, animations and NPCs • Year 3 – Virtual conferencing and classes

  4. Technologies • Project Wonderland Toolkit • Sun Microsystems and Open Source Community • 3D modeling via Google Sketchup • 3D animation via Java and Alice • Game customizations via Java programming language
