With 8th straight cut, petrol at Rs 81.10 in Delhi, Rs 86.58 in Mumbai With 8th straight cut, petrol at Rs 81.10 in Delhi, Rs 86.58 in Mumbai Overall, petrol and diesel prices has come down by Rs 1.73 per litre and 89 paise, respectively in New Delhi In a further relief for consumers from soaring petrol and diesel prices, fuel rates were cut for the eighth consecutive day on Thursday.While petrol prices have come down by around 15 paise, diesel prices are down by 5 paise across major cities.In the national capital, petrol is now priced at Rs 81.10 per litre, down 15 paise from Wednesday's price of Rs 81.25.Petrol now costs Rs 86.58 in Mumbai, Rs 82.95 in Kolkata and Rs 84.28 in Chennai. While petrol prices have been on the decline for the last eight days, diesel prices remained constant for a day on Wednesday.Overall, petrol and diesel prices have come down by Rs 1.73 per litre and 89 paise, respectively in New Delhi.Before the decline started, petrol and diesel prices had soared to unprecedented levels due to surging crude oil prices.On October 4, in a bid to ease the crunch caused by soaring fuel prices, Finance Minister Arun Jaitley announced a reduction of Rs 2.50 per litre on both petrol and diesel prices after curbing excise duty on the commodity by Rs 1.50 per litre.
