  2. Assen "Jerry" Jordanoff(born AsenHristovYordanov, September 2, 1896, Sofia, Bulgaria) was a Bulgarian-American inventor, engineer, and aviator. Yordanov is considered to be the founder of aeronautical engineering in Bulgaria, as well as a contributor to the development of aviation in America. • The world's first air bag, meant to ensure the safety of pilots and automobile drivers alike, was designed by Jordanoff in 1957. • “All American pilots and I personally have learned aviation from him and his vast experience.”, said Neal Armstrong, the first man who stepped on the Moon.
