  3. Nouns are words that name people, places, things, and animals.

  4. Some nouns name a special person, place, thing, or animal. These nouns are called proper nouns, and they begin with a capital letter. Tennessee Sam New York City

  5. People often have special titles that show respect for who they are or for the work they do. When a person’s special title is written with their name, use a capital letter at the beginning of the special title. Let’s look at some special titles. Officer Smith Mr. Vance Dr. Darby Principal Forgety Mrs. Ingle

  6. The words for the days of the week, the months of the year, and holidays begin with a capital letter. Christmas Friday Sunday Valentine’s Day Thursday February April November

  7. Sometimes nouns name one thing. Sometimes nouns name more than one thing. tree trees
