It is an arm of Mission where by the missionary is zealous to win Soul for Christ.
The word missions have to do with the mandate to reach the unreached.
TENT MAKING PAUL ‘S MODEL OF MISSIONARY FINANCE
TENT MAKING is a term used in the service of God to mean being engaged in a paid job or business that earn you some money alongside working for God in the ministry
TENT MAKING AS A STRATEGY
TENT MAKING is a strategy of association to make for easy accessibility and easy communication, meant to build cordial relationship in an area of assignment for easy evangelism.
Tent Making is an exciting area for missions because it opens up opportunities to reach seemingly inaccessible people in new ways with the Gospel.
Your call in the ministry, the job or business you do is just an appendages; a means to an end.
WHO IS A TENT MAKER?
A Tentmaker is a dedicated, spiritually mature Christian man or woman who views work in light of the Great Commission and as an opportunity to serve the Kingdom of God.
A tentmaker, simply put, is a disciple of Jesus Christ who is called by God to a cross cultural ministry using marketable skill and service (Act 18:3)
Tent-makers are missions-motivated Christians who support themselves in secular work as they do evangelism on the job and in free time. • They may be business entrepreneurs , professionals, paid employees,
expenses-paid voluntary workers, or Christians in professional exchange, funded research, internship or study abroad programs.
A Tentmaker can: • Be employed within a company • Teach in an educational institution • Work inside government • Own (or just run) a business.

Old Testament • Most Old Testament prophets of God supported themselves with their own sources of income apart from prophetical ministry. • Elisha was a prophet and a farmer, while Amos was a prophet and herdsman who grew sycamore trees.

TENT: It is a make shift abode; a temporary structure establish to achieve a goal.
It is divine designated assignment which must have a purpose and timing. This must be fulfill with time frame, failure to answer on time can cause many to go astray.

ADVANTAGES OF BEING A TENTMAKER
Be able to fend for himself or herself at will • Would not have to be a dependant on other people • Would have confidence in himself/herself • Would be able to admonish, rebuke and diligently teach the word without fear and favour
Would not be a beggar thus being an embarrassment to himself and the people • Obeying a command from apostle Paul that he who does not work must not eat • Would be able to fully or partly finance his or her projects independently.
Make him have a clear head to think • Make the work of the ministry go at steady pace • Make him have the ability to be more spiritually conscious • Avoid being a financial burden on the infant churches-Act20:32-35; 1 Thess2:9 ; 2 Thess 3: 6-10
WHY TENT MAKING IS SO IMPORTANT?
Many countries now restrict Christian evangelism in some way • This escalating cost of maintaining missionary families abroad have also caused many agencies to rethink the advantage of Tent making
Tent maker meet people of different professional and social classes in a natural way. • Tent maker have access to people; credible identity and easy point of contact. • Friendship develop earn the tent maker a right to be heard
It is much more for Financial independence either partly or totally, such that the minister will be able to meet the basic personal needs. • If he has a family, then it becomes more imperative that he takes such basic things as Housing, Food and clothing

Why is Tent Making needed ?
1)It provides entry into hostile countries of the world, especially those that are considered restricted access. About 80% of
the world’s population, including most unreached groups, live in countries that do not allow missionary visas.
2) It provides opportunities to build natural relationships with those in the same line of work abroad and in both open and restricted access countries.
3) It conserves scarce mission funds for missionary ministries that must have full support at a time of rising costs worldwide and an uncertain dollar.
