  2. Why be an officer in VHIO? • Take leadership initiative in VHIO and input your ideas • Be more involved in VHIO as well as broader campaigns (e.g. SFHBF) • Reach out and establish a network with local health organizations • Work with a group of very passionate students

  3. Positions Officer Position Descriptions & Qualifications

  4. Chinese Dept Coordinator • Duties: • Coordinate all Chinese related volunteering events • Attend Outreach meetings to establish and maintain partnerships • Lead Committee Outreach Meetings • Delegate roles to sub-committees • Coordinate language group socials • Organize and manage the calvhiochinese email account • Work directly with External President

  5. Chinese Dept Coordinator • Qualifications: • Communication skills • Organization skills • Taking the initiative • Be professional

  6. Korean Dept Coordinator • Handle requests for interpretation/translation • Delegate responsibilities to members • Work with Korean Community Health Services • Monthly Mammogram clinics • 5K Health Walk planning in Spring • Korean Cancer Conference in Fall • Seek to establish new partnerships • Help out other officers • Plan department socials • Recruit members in the Fall • Manage applications, organize interviews, etc.

  7. Korean Dept Coordinator • Qualifications: • Motivated • Outgoing • Someone who strives to make a difference and contribute to expanding the Korean Department • Outreach • Good people skills • Dedicated

  8. Vietnamese Dept Coordinator • Duties: • Head Outreach Meetings • Help find clinics for Vietnamese volunteers • Organize events • Contact volunteers, plan rides, etc… • Delegate tasks to sub-committees

  9. Vietnamese Dept Coordinator • Skills desired: • Responsible and willing to put in effort • Attend meetings • Keep in touch with old partners • Contact new partners • Social and good people skills • Take initiative • Be creative • Be professional • PASSION!

Education Coordinators • Fall Semester • Facilitate Decal for new members • A 2-hour class per week (lecture + language practice) (tentatively) • Prepare and facilitate lectures or any in-class activities • Coordinate language practices with the help of language coaches • Coordinate the exams • Coordinate 1 – 2 workshops for returning members • Spring semester • Coordinate 3 workshops for returning members

  11. Education Coordinators • Good communication skills • Teamwork • Being well-organized • Committed and responsible • Public speaking is NOT a must! (Practice makes perfect!)

  12. Finance Coordinator • Manage ASUC SISG and Cal Corps accounts, serving as the primary contact • Keep track of volunteers needing reimbursements, which involves processing requests through ASUC/Cal Corps • Complete budget applications/grant reports for continued non-profit funding • Attend officer meetings and occasional Cal Corps workshops/meetings • Plan our annual spring banquet • Continue volunteering within VHIO! 

  13. Programs Analyst • Leads research project • Clinic • Decal (surprise!) • Recruitment

  14. Data Collection Team • New committee • All languages • Go to clinics and events to collect data • Compile and input data • Generate analyses and interpretation

  15. Timeline • Early-mid Jan – officer applications available online (will be emailed and posted on website) • Jan 31 – Officer applications due • Early February – notification of interning process if selected • February through April – interning process • End of April – Officer transition
